Frequently Asked Questions
For your convenience, we’ve put together a list of some common questions and answers. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Drop us a line and we will be happy to find the answer for you.
What is Registered Massage Therapy?
Massage therapy consists primarily of hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, specifically, the muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints for the purpose of optimizing health. It is a regulated profession in Ontario, bound by the Regulated Health Professionals Act and the Massage Therapy Act. Therapists must pass provincial licensing exams and prove ongoing competency to maintain their registration and title.
Do you offer direct billing to my insurance?
We offer direct billing to most major insurers. Some plans will pay the clinic directly; others pay the insured member but allow us to submit on your behalf. You are then responsible for payment to the clinic on the day the service is provided. After all treatments we will provide you with an detailed receipt.
What will happen at my first appointment?
Your Massage Therapist will greet you in our waiting room and bring you into one of our treatment rooms. You will review your health history and any questions or concerns will be addressed. After a treatment plan is agreed upon and consented to by you, your therapist will leave to allow you to undress and position yourself on the table and under the sheets. The treatment will be tailored to your specific goals and the therapist will check in throughout your treatment to see how you're doing. After the treatment your therapist will ask how your feeling and may suggest exercises or stretches or suggest a followup appointment.
Do I have to get undressed?
Your comfort is of the utmost importance to us. Massage Therapists are trained to provide effective treatments to clients regardless of whether they remove none, some or all of their clothing. You will be covered by a sheet at all times during your massage treatment and only the part of you body being treated will be uncovered. Massage Therapists are highly trained in proper draping techniques to ensure your privacy and safety.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is one of the main forms of treatment in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Thin needles are inserted in the body at very specific points to adjust and alter the body's energy flow into healthier patterns. It is used to treat a wide variety of illnesses and health conditions. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends acupuncture as an effective treatment for over forty medical problems, including allergies, respiratory conditions, gastrointestinal disorders, gynecological problems, nervous conditions, and disorders of the eyes, nose and throat, and childhood illnesses, among others.
